RE
At Ashburnham Community School we believe in giving children the tools to support their spiritual development more effectively. Our RE curriculum allows for genuine investigation into and reflection on, the implications of religion and belief for their personal lives. We believe that learning about different religions is a vital part of living in a multi-cultural society and that understanding of other faith systems and beliefs leads to tolerance. We enrich our RE curriculum with plenty of visits to local places of worship, museums and we have key speakers in to discuss their faiths with the children. We also value the links that can be made with other curriculum areas, for example through Guided Reading, Art or Dance and are explicit with the children about transferring skills they are learning across all subject areas.
